This error is on a Windows 10 laptop, not the Win 7 desktop.
Searching for answers to this issue I found solutions that are relative to a situation that seem to be where all network devices are affected. This situation is different in that only one network device/computer out of five has the problem, and only on one computer.
In File Explorer\Network on the Laptop, there are five network devices listed.
Laptop – Win 10 – connects and accesses files
Main-Computer – Win 7 – 0x80070035 Network Path Not Found
Office-Computer – Win 7 – connects and accesses files
NAS – connects and accesses files
Epson Printer – connects and prints files
The Laptop can connect to and access files on the Office-Computer, NAS, and can print to the Networked printer, but when I click on the Main-Computer, I get the 0x80070035 Network Path Not Found error immediately. However, the Main-Computer can connect to and access files on the Laptop.
The Office-Computer can connect to and access the files on the Main-Computer, NAS, Laptop, and print to the networked printer.
The Main-Computer can connect to and access the files on the Laptop, Office-Computer, NAS, and print to the networked printer.
User Names and passwords have been applied throughout the network, and I doubt it is a credentials issue, since the process for the Laptop to connect to the Main-Computer doesn’t even get to checking the credentials. The Laptop simply can’t get to the Main-Computer from either of its two user accounts – one admin and one standard.
Advanced IP Scanner sees the Laptop and the Main-Computer, and shows the correct IP address, MAC address, and computer name for both.
I have checked and rechecked the sharing and permissions settings on both the Laptop and the Main-Computer, and I have checked and rechecked the router settings.
All of the associated network services are running.
All are in the same Workgroup.
In other words, the network is operating as it should, except for this one isolated error. Therefore, this is a narrow, singular issue that seems to be with the Laptop.
Method 1: Let us first enable the feature.
Open Control Panel.
Then click on all Control Panel Items.
Then click on Programs and features.
Then on the left hand side, click on Turn Windows features on or off.
Windows Feature box will open. Please scroll down and under SMB 1.0 CIFS File Sharing Support, check the boxes next to SMB 1.0/CIFS Client and SMB 1.0/ CIFS Server. If the boxes are already checked, please uncheck the box and check it again.
It will ask you to restart your Computer. Please Restart it.
Method 2: Modify Local security policy.
Press Windows and R key together on your Keyboard.
Type Secpol.msc and hit Enter.
Navigate to: Local policies -> Security options -> in the right pane, search for Network security: Lan Manager…
Double click on Network security: Lan Manager… and select Send LM & NTLM- use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.
Click on Apply and OK.
Method 3: Enable NetBIOS.
I would suggest you to check the ‘NetBIOS’ settings on all your systems. The Network Basic Input Output System provides services related to the session layer within the Network model to allow effective communication between different computers in a Local Area Network. You can follow the steps below to enable the NetBIOS.
Press the Windows key and R key together on the keyboard.
Type ncpa.cpl and hit enter.
Right-click on the network connection you are using, you will get a drop down menu, select Properties.
Click on the Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/TPv4).
Under General tab, click on the Advanced button.
Click on the WINS tab and select the Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
Click on OK, restart the system and check if you have an access to the files on the Windows 10 system.
